Our volunteer programs are designed to aid at risk youth who attend alternative education programs.  Youth are extensively trained to manage all aspects of ski hill operations.  These youth provide volunteer training and volunteer hours that aid the organization function during weekday events.  The youth receive mentoring, training, job skills, work ethics, and receive credit toward their diplomas.  This is a program that we are extremely proud to offer and is beneficial to everyone involved.  This part of programming is made possible by grants from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation, Bay Harbor Foundation, and Petoskey Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation.

Volunteers are crucial to our success.  It is through the voluntary efforts of the countless individuals who give of their time and talents that we are able to provide our programs.  Volunteers are specially trained to assist skiers, groom slopes and participate in all aspects of our operation.  We have survived and grown due to the work of volunteers, fund raising events such as the annual Nightmare at Challenge Mountain, the generosity of surrounding communities, private contributions and the establishment of 2 resale shops in nearby Boyne City and Petoskey, completely staffed by volunteers.  If you are interested in finding out more about volunteer opportunities with our operation please call (231)535-2141 or email cmski@challengemtn.org.

Volunteers are important in every aspect of our operations.  Professional development is available in areas such as ski and snowboard instruction, bindings, safety patrol, and more.  Training is often times administered on the job. 

The Resale Stores offer easy on the job training.  Job references are available for volunteers as well.
